Between the Dog and the Wolf’ (Entre chien et loup) is the French expression for evening, the blue hour, when the oncoming dusk can make familiar things seem slightly off, or menacing, mysterious. I took this as a license to look at pools by the sea at that hour, when the pool, tame body of water that it is, sits alongside the wild beast of the ocean. Here the umbrellas, folded for the night, are suddenly lit with a last twinkle of sunlight. Making the empty scene visually alive.
