Taysa Jorge is a self-taught visual artist from the Canary Islands (Spain) whose work fuses photographic realism with otherworldly imagination. Originally trained in dance, Jorge transitioned to photography in 2015 as a new form of creative expression. Armed with a camera and Photoshop, she began crafting images that inhabit a liminal space between the familiar and the surreal, often centered on themes of nature and humanity. “I don’t want to create fantasy worlds, but to make ordinary things look unusual,” Jorge has said, describing her mission to uncover life’s hidden messages in the everyday. This philosophy shines through in her art: towering forests, solitary figures, and seaside vistas may appear in her compositions with a dreamlike twist, inviting viewers to find the mystical in the mundane.
In recent years, Jorge has expanded her toolkit to include generative AI, using machine learning models to further augment her imaginative imagery. This foray into AI-generated art places her alongside contemporary trailblazers redefining photography’s boundaries. Taysa Jorge’s works have garnered attention in digital art circles and were highlighted in Fellowship’s Post Photographic Perspectives series, which examines the evolving role of AI in image-making.
