Artist's profile picture
David Brandon Geeting, a New York-based photographer, skillfully navigates the intersection of genres, constructing a vibrant world characterized by skillful chaos and unwavering curiosity.
Within Geeting's realm, subjects undergo a metamorphosis through re-photography, reassembly, and unexpected, often humorous juxtapositions. His self-proclaimed impulse to 'find equal potential in all things' has yielded an impressive collection of still life photography. Expanding on this ethos, Geeting seamlessly extends his artistic reach into the realms of fashion and portraiture, consistently maintaining an irreverent sense of humor and playfulness that defines his distinctive style.
The 2019 monograph, "Neighborhood Stroll," captures Geeting's exploration of his Greenpoint, Brooklyn neighborhood, devoid of human presence, dissecting the remnants they've left behind. His extensive portfolio also includes two other monographs: "Infinite Power" (2015), a whimsical compilation of early still life work, and "Amusement Park" (2017), which enhances his studio improvisations with brightly lit portraits and documentary images from an actual theme park. His latest collaboration with artist Lina Sun Park, "A Spell Too Far," unfolds as a visual metaphor, employing household materials, everyday staples, and even themselves to convey a narrative.
